Ellen Campeas used oil pastels for this lush drawing."I had a lot of fun with this assignment. It was especially nice that Susan and Janet chose a Bonnard, (one of my favorite artists!) painting as this week's example. I enjoyed experimenting with warm and cool colors and found it interesting to change up the real colors of the room -in order to meet the assignment's challenge."

Virgina Naughton painted this beautiful watercolor full of details. She even included a detail that marks this present moment in time.

Janet Filemyr painted this watercolor which describes the quality of indoor and outdoor light so well. "I kept my eyes peeled for a good view of looking outside from within. I saw my puppy Jiro staring outside. He’s ever hopeful for a squirrel or raccoon to enter his domain so he can practice social distancing by chasing them away! I really focused on the whitest white to create the contrast of shadows and the feeling of being trapped in the dark inside and excluded from the bright beautiful outside."

Fall Interior by Janet Pedersen.
I painted this interior last Fall, looking out at the buildings across from my home. When Susan gave the art challenge this week, I felt this window view answered that dynamic. Now that it's Spring out, I should redo this painting and see what is altered in the way of light, shadow and temperature.

Susan Greenstein posts her inside/outside watercolor. "I found this to be a challenging and interesting way of working. It was hard to restrain myself from moving into warm colors in the interior and visa versa. But limitations always bring a lot of discovery. I am thinking of doing a few more paintings with this same challenge in mind."

'Is it Summer Yet?' Joan Rappaport sweet watercolor of her granddaughter Olivia.
